Q1 Update
Hello, everyone! Happy New Year!
Fourth quarter was a wild ride, and I’m super excited for 2024! I have three books that I expect to publish this year, and I can’t wait to share them with you all! But first let’s take a look at what got done — and what didn’t — over the holiday season.

The Distant Trinity
The “Distant” Trinity.
Named such because of their association with celestial bodies and the fact that, to be quite frank, they do far less meddling than many of the other gods. In theory, at least. I personally find it far more likely they are just better at covering their tracks.

Let’s talk about Campfire
You may have noticed that at the end of October I started mentioning that Lost Blades was available on Campfire. Your first thought was probably “What on earth is Campfire?”, possibly followed closely by “Why is she publishing Lost Blades on a site I’ve never heard of?”

Swag for Broken Blades!
I know, I know — Lost Blades released two months ago. Why are we talking about Broken Blades?
Well, because that is releasing in just about two months on January 12!
Which means it’s time to show off all the fun, free stuff you can get!

Festival of Night Recipes
It’s SPOOKY TIME!!!! :D
Halloween is tomorrow! My favorite holiday!
To celebrate, I thought I’d share two recipes that are mentioned in Lost Blades for the Festival of Night (essentially, Romanii’s Halloween).

What Is the Warcross Wall?
What is the Wall?
Sure, we’ve all heard the stories of how the Empire’s last few mages used the last of their magic to save us from both plague and the Vampire hordes, but… what is it?

Meet Jamirh and Takeshi!
Jamirh and Takeshi are the two point of view characters for Lost Blades. With the novel debuting in just over a week, let’s get to know them a little!

The Rose Empire
Oh, how far has our nation come in the last thousand years! From the tiny kingdom of Agale to our now-great Empire, we stand as testament to how much can change over a millennium. And the world is all the better for it! This is but a few of the major events that have led us to today.

Final Proofs!
The final proofs are in… and they. Are. GORGEOUS! So I wanted to share them with you all :)

Lost Blades Teasers!
I can’t believe it — we are about a month and a half away from Lost Blades! It almost doesn’t seem possible, but here we are, hurtling toward publication!
Since we have a fifth Monday of the month, it’s time for a mini blog post! This month’s is a collection of all the character teasers I’ve released so far. Enjoy!

Elemental Deities
Magic
Hm. Is that the best place to start?
It has to be. What else would you start with when talking about gods? They are magic.
So then. Magic.
We’ll start with the basic elements, I suppose.

My Writing Process
Every writer has a different method.
There is no one, true way. It would possibly be easier if there were, but there isn’t, so everyone has to figure out what works best for them. This is something that can take a long, long time for some people — I very much doubt I’ve figured out the perfect way that works for me! But this is how it works for now.

What is Magic?
Magic is life.
Life, and a will. The ability to affect and change the world around us. Even those who do not have what we consider to be magic ability are, technically, magical; they just lack the more dramatic application of their will that “magical” people are capable of. The terminology we use is quite imprecise, but this is a digression.

Fantasy Subgenres
Fantasy has always been my most-read genre of book. Magic, creatures, exotic locations – these things have always appealed to me.
But there’s different ways of delivering on these things, and fantasy is itself a broad genre. But that’s okay – that’s what subgenres are for! A subgenre can help you find a more specific type of fantasy story than just “fantasy”.

What is an Avari?
It happens every time. “Oh, you’re writing a fantasy book! Are there, like, elves and dwarves in it?”
“Well, I do have a bunch of fantasy races, but not the standard ones. My main character is an Avari.”
“What’s an Avari?”
And, to be fair, it is a valid question. Since I made Avari up, and all that.

All the Swag for Lost Blades
It’s here!
“But, Liz, what’s here?” you may be asking. (Well, probably not, because you’ve in theory read the title of the blog post, but allow me to pretend.)
All the fun stuff for Lost Blades!

The World of Gaia
In 2010, I had an idea for a story. So, of course, the first thing I created for it was a map.
I’d been playing Dungeons and Dragons for, oh, maybe a decade at that point? And while I had only been a Dungeon Master once or twice, I was fond of all the world building that creating your own campaign world entailed. And I love maps!
